Let’s Play Hockey Expo Recap

Over the weekend, The Beer League Tribune made the quick drive over to the State of Hockey, to experience The Tourney, and the Let’s Play Hockey Expo! Both events were better than expected! The Tourney showcased Minnesota’s finest high school hockey, and the expo showed off the latest products in the game!

The Tourney

The Minnesota High School Hockey Championships aka The Tourney, is a high school state tournament bigger than any other high school hockey tournament I have seen. For the class A finals game, there was almost 10,000 people in attendance! The championship game for the Class AA game, sells out the Xcel Center, which is around 18,000 people! Both games attract more fans than some NHL teams! (Yes, I know attendance goes by tickets sold, but are there really 10,000 people going to a Tuesday night game in Arizona? ) It is really a site to see for a high school game!

In addition to the attendance, the on-ice product is incredible as well! The games were very fast paced and impressive amounts of skill were shown. The games were very close and very fun to watch!

The Lets Play Hockey Expo

The Let’s Play Hockey Expo had many highlights! They had various hockey stars and personalities such as Amanda Kessel (with her gold medal), Pavel Barber, the Hanson brothers, and Chris from Hockey Tutorial. In addition to the various people, there were lots of brands represented including:

These companies brought their newest products and gear to show off and sell! Some companies such as Sparx, sharpened your skates, while others such as Floorball Plus, had a floorball rink set up to allow you to try the sport out! Other companies such as Hockey Bike, and Carbon Sports, showcased products they think could revolutionize the game of hockey!

If you have the second weekend in March open in 2019, consider it booked, and take time to go to this celebration of the game!
